Highlights of the board during Pat’s tenure on the Board of Education are as follows:

  • A relentless commitment to Equity in all decisions and actions
  • Courses are offered that challenge students and prepare them for what’s ahead
  • Graduation rates are the highest ever
  • Balance the budget and won awards for budget preparation
  • The Freshman Restructuring has been very successful as we have data that shows that since 2012-13 school year, 381 students who would have been excluded from earning honors credit for freshman English earned honors credit for the course
  • An Alternative School has opened which is a proactive move to change the future of many students who dropped out or stopped coming to school
  • Career related education and training provided in 15 different career areas including Project Lead the Way in engineering, health sciences and public safety training in partnership with the EPD and Evanston Fire Department and Oakton Community College
  • Increased and continuing Partnerships at Northwestern University and Oakton Community College
  • Partnerships with YMCA, YWCA, Y.O.U., Youth Job Center, PEER Services, Moran Center, many more
  • Active role in the development and functioning of Evanston Cradle to Career
  • A record number of African-American and Latino students are taking Advanced Placement Courses
  • More students than ever are scoring 3 or higher on Advanced Placement Tests
  • Highest composite ACT Scores in the history of ETHS
  • Continue to work with District 65 in supporting struggling readers as they enter high school
  • Adhere to the state Teacher Evaluation Process which included clear expectations and ongoing monitoring
